Figuring out what dimension to use for your LinkedIn personal profile can be confusing as there are several different recommendations presented on the web. The following are the dimensions we have tested and have shown to work in 2021.
The LinkedIn profile picture works best with an image that is 400 by 400 pixels or higher. The consensus is you should be using a head shot and not a photograph of yourself from head to toe for this. As for the background photo, 1584 by 396 pixels works best. The file size limit of both is 8Mb in JPG or PNG. We recommend using an image or images representing the services you provide or a particular industry.
The size ratio of the personal profile picture vs the background picture in LinkedIn can change depending on the platform you use. It is slightly bigger in comparison when being viewed on mobile. If you wish to include any text or photo that you want to remain unobstructed in the background picture, we recommend doing so on the right side. In this way, it is less likely that the profile picture would block it.
